Lotion Types
- Intensifier – Helps to boost the natural tanning process by stimulating melanin production in the skin. Intensifiers are also known as accelerators or maximizers. These are used to establish a base tan. All intensifiers contain tyrosine. Tyrosine is an amino acid the body naturally makes. It is completely safe and non-toxic to apply to skin.
- Natural Bronzer – Encourages the skin’s natural tanning process by utilizing immediate bronzers that provide instant gratification, along with working to build a base tan and helping to even out skin tone without the use of DHA. A few commonly used natural bronzers are caramel, Henna and black walnut extract.
- DHA Bronzer – Increases the skins dark color by utilizing the sunless tanning agent DHA. DHA is a sugar compound that reacts with the proteins on the surface of the skin to provide a bronzed appearance. DHA will continue to develop for about 24 hours after the tanning session and can also be referred to as a delayed bronzer.
